  到了19世纪，占星开始走向大众化。占星拥护者创立神秘会社，研习占星及其它神秘学知识。其中以英国占星家亚伦．里欧（Alan Leo）对于现代占星的普及功不可没。他与朋友创办《占星家杂志》，出版占星学书籍，开办占星课程，以通俗简易的说法解释艰深难懂的占星术语。现在报章杂志的每周星座运程，所使用的太阳星座便是由他一年建立。由亚伦．里欧开始，占星学以另一种形式深入民心，亦益形通俗化。Alan Leo是現代占星的发展的重要人物，把大多规则废除让占星学走上新的道路。
