（因为没看过原文，所以翻出来的结果可能有点出入，请多包涵了）

现代思想拒绝承认这些奇迹曾发生过，而是接受了那些关于癫痫与精神失常的假说。说得好像秩序能从混乱中诞生似的！
Even if epilepsy were the cause of these great movements which have caused civilization after civilization to arise from barbarism, it would merely form an argument for cultivating epilepsy.
哪怕承认癫痫是这些使一个个文明从野蛮中诞生的时刻的根源，这也只会掀起又一场关于癫痫是如何造成的争论。

楼上的翻译岂止是有点出入，第一二句的意思都完全改变了。。。原文这里大概是说作者作为神秘学研究者承认超自然因素在文明起源中的作用，所以嘲讽那些认为早期萨满祭司纯粹是癔症发作的现代学者吧
